Whale Watching Daily Diary – 24th June 2026
Morning Tour
Under bright sunshine and calm seas, with barely a breath of wind, Faxafloi Bay offered perfect whale watching conditions. Our adventure began with a few elusive harbour porpoises. Soon after, a minke whale appeared, before the stars of the tour arrived: several humpback whales, including two accompanied by playful dolphins. A few humpbacks approached remarkably close to the boat, giving everyone unforgettable views. By the end of the tour, we had encountered all four of the most common cetaceans of the bay.
Afternoon Tour
The afternoon belonged to humpbacks. Although the wind had picked up and the sea had grown livelier, the whales seemed determined to put on a show. We witnessed several spectacular fin slaps before one energetic humpback stole the spotlight, launching itself from the water again and again in a series of more than ten breathtaking breaches. It was truly an afternoon to remember.
