Whale Watching Daily Diary – 2nd June 2026
Morning Tour
We enjoyed excellent whale-watching conditions in Faxaflói Bay, with a calm sea, warm weather, and partial sunshine throughout the trip.
Our first encounter was with a pod of harbour porpoises that repeatedly swam very close to the boat, providing an unusual and delightful sighting.
Later, we came across a curious minke whale that also approached us closely.
As we continued, a group of white-beaked dolphins suddenly surfaced right in front of the boat, giving everyone a fantastic view.
The combination of different species and calm conditions made for a memorable excursion.
To top it all off, we spotted another minke whale on our way back to the harbour
Afternoon Tour
The afternoon tour in Faxaflói Bay took place under calm sea conditions, although it was slightly colder and windier than in the morning.
We encountered several harbour porpoises, which gave us some excellent sightings throughout the trip.
These small cetaceans were active and provided great views near the boat.
We also spotted a minke whale, allowing us to observe it from a close distance.
Although sightings were fewer than earlier in the day, it was still an enjoyable and rewarding tour on the bay.
