Whale Watching Daily Diary – 4th June 2026

Morning Tour

We headed out into Faxaflói Bay under calm sea conditions, with cloudy skies dominating most of the morning. Although the sun only appeared briefly at times, the sea remained very smooth, creating excellent conditions for wildlife watching.

The highlight of the tour was a large humpback whale. The whale was incredibly relaxed and spent long periods at the surface, allowing everyone to enjoy prolonged and close observations. To make the encounter even more exciting, the whale treated us to several spectacular breaches, launching its massive body clear out of the water and putting on an unforgettable show for everyone on board.

Later in the trip, we encountered several white-beaked dolphins. Some individuals were seen leaping energetically out of the water, while others approached the boat and swam alongside us, delighting passengers with their playful behaviour.

With calm seas, a cooperative humpback whale that showed off with impressive jumps, and active dolphins throughout the morning, it was a fantastic excursion in Faxaflói Bay.

Afternoon Tour

The afternoon tour took place under similar conditions, with calm seas and overcast skies throughout most of the trip. The sun managed to break through the clouds only briefly, adding a touch of brightness to an otherwise cloudy day.

Once again, we were fortunate to encounter the same large humpback whale. The whale remained relaxed and easy to observe, spending plenty of time at the surface. In addition to its calm behaviour, it also delighted us with several breaches, creating some truly memorable moments and giving everyone an even better appreciation of the power and agility of these magnificent animals.

We also enjoyed multiple encounters with white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins were active throughout the tour, with some leaping clear of the water and others swimming close to the boat, providing excellent views and plenty of excitement for our passengers.

Despite the persistent cloud cover, the calm sea conditions, remarkable humpback whale sightings, and playful dolphins combined to make for a very enjoyable and rewarding afternoon on Faxaflói Bay.
