Whale Watching Daily Diary – April 15th 2026
Conditions in Faxafloi Bay were perfect all day long – the sea was calm, the sun was shining, making visibility ideal for whale watching.
We started the morning tour with an encounter with harbour porpoises! There were about 5 or 6 of them; they didn’t stay with us for long, but we could easily make out their grey bodies.
We continued our journey, and every now and then puffins appeared before our eyes! A sign that summer had officially begun.
A few miles from the coast, we spotted about four tall blows – humpbacks! The whole area was full of active whales, and in the end we saw about 15 adult humpbacks actively feeding. They showed us their tails and even flicked them to create a few splashes.
The afternoon tour was just as excellent. In the same area, we saw a dozen or so humpback whales again, but also around four minke whales, which today swam surprisingly close to our boat. We couldn’t have asked for more – a brilliant tour!
