Whale Watching Daily Diary – April 18th 2026
Today’s conditions in the bay were quite good overall. We enjoyed a sunny day, although there was some swell that we could feel at times. Despite that, visibility remained good and allowed for a pleasant experience throughout the tour.
We set sail from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik towards the open waters of Faxaflói, navigating in generally stable conditions with a bit of wave action along the way.
After some time searching, we were able to spot our first whales. We had the chance to encounter both humpback whales, minke whale and dolphins, which appeared calm and relaxed during our sightings. They surfaced several times and allowed us to observe them well, although their activity levels were lower compared to previous days.
The sunny weather made the experience even more enjoyable, and while the sea was not completely calm, it did not take away from the overall experience or wildlife viewing.
All in all, it was a good day at sea with nice sightings and happy passengers on board.
