Whale Watching Daily Diary – May 13th 2026

Morning tour

This morning in Faxaflói Bay began with calm seas and soft sunshine spreading across the water. Early in the tour, we spotted a few playful minke whales surfacing gently around the bay. The highlight came when a humpback whale rolled out of the water, dramatically slapping its tail before revealing part of its pectoral fin. With the ocean smooth and the weather bright, it was a beautiful and memorable morning at sea. Finally, after two days of cancellations due to very rough sea!

Afternoon tour

The afternoon tour in Faxaflói Bay once again welcomed us with calm seas and beautiful weather conditions. A large pod of white-beaked dolphins surrounded the boat, racing through the water and delighting everyone with energetic jumps and fast swimming. In the same area, we briefly encountered a minke whale before spotting the humpback whale again, lifting its tail several times above the surface. As we continued exploring, we also found a group of harbour porpoises, and on our way back to the harbour we were greeted once more by many many playful dolphins!
