Whale Watching Daily Diary – May 26th 2026

Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; Humpback whale back as it dives

Morning tour

Cloudy skies accompanied us this morning as we sailed out into the bay, but the sea conditions were excellent and made for a very comfortable trip. It did not take long before we found our first cetaceans of the day, with several minke whales appearing in the area and surfacing nicely around the boat. Their quick and smooth movements kept everyone attentive as we followed them through the calm waters.

Later during the tour, a pod of dolphins joined the morning excitement. The animals stayed active around us for a while, travelling swiftly across the bay and adding plenty of energy to the experience despite the grey weather overhead.

Even without sunshine, the calm bay and consistent wildlife activity gave us a fantastic start to the day.

Afternoon tour

Conditions remained pleasant during the afternoon as we headed back out in search of more wildlife. After navigating through the bay for some time, we finally spotted a humpback whale calmly moving through the area.

The whale seemed quite relaxed today, taking longer dives and travelling steadily, but it still surfaced enough times for everyone on board to enjoy good views and appreciate its impressive size. While not the most active humpback we have seen, it certainly provided a peaceful and rewarding encounter that made the tour a success.

A calm afternoon at sea with another beautiful whale sighting to complete the day.
