Whale Watching Daily Diary – May 2nd 2026

Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; Wild white-beaked dolphins

That morning, the sea in Faxafói Bay was choppy, but visibility remained good and the wind wasn’t too strong. We therefore set course for the open sea.

Not far from the harbour, we spotted a lot of splashes – white-beaked dolphins, just over 20 of them! After this fruitful encounter, we set off again to spot as many as three humpbacks, some distance apart. We managed to see a few beautiful tails, which were followed by, unfortunately, really long dives. Luckily, in between, we could catch a glimpse of puffins bobbing up and down on the water’s surface all around our boat!

In the afternoon, the sea became rougher. We started the tour with dolphins again, but unfortunately lost sight of them quite quickly. As we didn’t manage to see any other whales, we offered our passengers a complimentary ticket, which they can use within three years.
