Whale Watching Daily Diary – May 5th, 2026
Today in Faxaflói Bay, the ocean reminded us that it operates on its own schedule. While the sea was spirited and the swells lively, the day ended with a spectacular reward for our patience.
Morning Tour: A Wild Adventure
Our morning departure was a true “hunt” through white-capped swells. We scouted from the lighthouse to the deep feeding grounds, but the whales remained elusive. Though the wildlife stayed submerged, passengers experienced the raw, bracing beauty of the Icelandic elements at their most energetic.
Afternoon Tour: The Grand Finale
The afternoon tour began quietly, but as we turned back toward the harbor, the magic happened. A majestic Humpback whale appeared right at our bow, “promenading” at the surface as if posing for the cameras. Seeing such a massive creature move so gracefully through the choppy water was a perfect reminder that in nature, persistence pays off!
