whale tail

We sailed out into the beautiful sunny and calm bay, everyone was excited for the trip. The sea was mostly calm, allowing for perfect sighting conditions. As we headed out into the bay, a minke whale popped up right in front of us, but soon after disappeared. We carried on our journey and found 2 humpback whales that were very curious about our boat. We stopped the boat and allowed these 2 individuals to swim right under the bow, spraying a few people with their blows! It was a beautiful moment. We carried on our journey, as to not disturb these two for too long, and found another humpback whale. It was soon time for us to head back to the harbour, so we watched this humpback whale dive one last time before saying goodbye.

The afternoon tour started with beautiful sunny, blue skies but not long after heading out, were we greeted by an overcast sky. This didn’t stop us from enjoying a beautiful encounter with the two humpback whales we saw this morning! They were a lot calmer, and kept popping up around the boat without showing us their blow! After seeing a few fluke dives, we headed out to find some more species, and came across a few quick minke sightings around the boat. Not far in the distance, we could see another big blow from a different humpback whale. We went to check it out before heading back home with a well deserved cup of hot chocolate.
