Welcome aboard Sea Trips Reykjavík

Thank you for supporting our small company by coming out to see Iceland’s natural wonders with Sea Trips Reykjavik. Let us tell you a bit more about ourselves.

Our company was set up in 2016 by three friends who, as all Icelanders do, love the ocean. We wanted to share its wonders with the world, showing travellers to our lands the jaw dropping sights we would see daily. Between us we have many years experience, in fishing, whale watching, engineering, and guiding out on the Icelandic waters, especially in Faxafloí, the great bay outside Reykjavik.

We are still based in Reykjavik now, just by the old harbour, right in the centre of town, easy walking distance from most hotels and our homes! When you visit us you may well have one of the original three as your captain, or collecting you from your hotel, we all pitch in as needed. Because we all worked well together, and thanks to people like you, our company grew and added a couple more family members and old friends to our team.

The company may be young, but we have years of knowledge from different areas, and we use all of it to give you the most wonderful day out. Years spent on the water here mean we know the best places to search out whales, or a calm spot nestled in between islands to give a picturesque view of the Aurora Borealis, framed by mountains, especially Mount Esja where there are stunning walks. We are passing that on to the next generation, in a couple of years we imagine our sons and daughters will be the captains, engineers, and guides. By choosing us you are also supporting their futures directly.

There are no other boats like Amelia Rose in this country, most boat tours are conducted on old ferry boats from the 70s but we felt they didn’t match the beauty and grandeur of our breath-taking scenery. Although she was built as a super yacht she is a splendid sight seeing ship, cutting through waves effortlessly. Importantly for us too her streamlined design and propeller guards mean she is more energy efficient, therefore eco friendly, and cannot accidentally injure a cetacean.

Education is really important to us. On our tours our guides educate about the greater ocean environment, as well as the animals we see, and also what we can do to protect in for future generations, or talk about astronomy as we wait for the Northern Lights to light up the skies above us.

Our crew is passionate. About whales. About Iceland. About the Aurora. We want to share it with you, and to do that we treat you like the individuals you are. This results in many of you coming to see us again, either to try a different tour, or even to retake their original tour because you enjoyed it so much previously! In 2019 we received an Award of Excellence from TripAdvisor, and we are on track to get it again in 2020, so thank you all so much for that.

We look forward to seeing you in Reykjavik soon, and showing you our incredible wildlife, breath-taking scenery, and awe-inspiring Northern Lights.

All the best,
Your crew at Sea Trips Reykjavik
