Daily diary – December 20 2024
The winds had calmed a lot since yesterday and the clouds still covered the sky. We set sail to go find the humpback whales we’ve been seeing the whole month of December. On our way over, we saw a pod of 3-4 harbour porpoises swimming next to the boat. A few minutes later one swam right in front of our boat. We then saw the blow from the individual humpback whale in front of us. We watched it swimming around for a while before it started showing displays of feeding. We then left the whale alone and explored around the islands. We then saw another pod of harbour porpoises! We finished the tour by having one last look at the individual humpback whale. On our way back to harbour, we saw a glimpse of the two other humpback whales but they soon disappeared and wouldn’t surface again.
