Daily Diary – July 30 2024

Our morning tour was accompanied by a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. In fact, we set off on a sea of oil with very little wind, but a cold morning for July.
The first sighting we made was of two sleeping Humpback Whales, which we followed very slowly, being able to observe them through the water as they were only a few meters below the surface. After this very calm moment we continued on our way to a third Humpback Whale which was much more active this time, we were lucky enough to see its tail emerge from the water several times. Our excursion ended with a group of rather curious White Beaked Dolphins which swam alongside the boat for a short while before resuming their journey.

The 13.15 tour was identical in terms of the species observed but their behavior was very different: many Humpback Whales were much more active, we saw tails, some jumped in the distance and one of them chased a few fish next to the boat by making circles of bubbles trapping the fish and making the chase easier. We also saw some white beaked dolphins which compared to the first round were not very curious and we felt that they just wanted to continue on their way.
