Daily diary – November 20 2024
We set off this morning in wintry conditions, with a strong northern wind but lots of sunshine. The boat was moving a little, but nothing too dramatic, allowing us to enjoy a magnificent sunrise.
We quickly spotted blows from a humpback whale fairly close to the harbor. We spent most of the morning with it, and a second whale joined in.
We even saw seals swimming near the boat.
This afternoon, we found one of the two humpbacks again, swimming close to the harbor. It seemed more relaxed, probably resting. As a result, it was less active than this morning, showing its tail very little and spending a lot of time underwater.
Still, we feel lucky to have humpback whales around, and I think they’re likely to stay for the winter.
Tomorrow promises to be an incredible day, with bright sunshine, no wind, and calm seas. Without a doubt, an amazing day awaits us.
