Daily diary – November 21 2024

The volcano has just erupted. We were able to admire the smoke and flames with a stunning sunrise and the volcano in the background. It was a magnificent day, with perfect conditions like we hadn’t seen in a long time: bright sunshine, calm seas, and gorgeous colors.

This morning, we set off to search for the whale spotted in previous days but had no luck. We searched all morning and only saw a Minke whale very briefly, which doesn’t really count, and passengers will be able to come back.

In the afternoon, we decided to search in another area near Hana Future. There, we quickly spotted many blows: two groups of two humpback whales. We focused on one group and were able to observe them for quite a while. They even breached at the beginning, staying very calm and close to the boat. With the volcano nearby, it was absolutely stunning.

Tomorrow looks to be another amazing day, with excellent conditions expected.
