Daily diary – November 22 2024
The cold winds from the north kept us chilly but the sea was calm. We headed out into the dark and soon could see the eruption on the horizon. We headed straight to Hafnarfjörður and soon found 2 humpback whales swimming together. Just before we got to them, we were interrupted by a small minke whale swimming around too. We watched them swim around the harbour for a while but they were swimming very quickly and changing direction every time they dove. We headed back to the harbour all very happy about our morning.
Everyone was excited for the afternoon tour, as the sunny skies and calm seas were so inviting. We soon reached Hafnarfjörður again and could now see that the 2 humpback whales were lunge feeding and rolling around a little bit. The birds were taking advantage of this and kept diving down to feed on the fish also. We enjoyed their company for a while, with the sun setting in the background and the eruption too!
