Whale breaching the water. Fun facts about whales

Although there was a bit of swell, the sea was moderately calm, only a few people didn´t enjoy the motion of the ocean. We headed out into the bay, and after an hour or so we heard news that there were humpback whales in Hafnarfjörður, so we headed there! We were nearly approaching where the whales were, when all of a sudden we saw two blows to our left! There were 4 humpback whales in the area. The two that we stayed with were assumed to be a mother-calf pair, due to the size difference and the fact that they were swimming closely together. After spending some time with them, the smaller humpback whale suddenly breached! It was amazing! We saw a glimpse of one of other humpback whales, but it wasn´t as active as these two. We then stayed in Hafnarfjörður for the afternoon tour.

Once everyone arrived in the harbour, we set out and found our pair of humpback whales again! We spent some time enjoying their company, when the larger humpback whale did a peduncle throw! So cool to see! We then made our way back to Reykjavik, and saw loads of harbour porpoise pods on the way! Once we reached the harbour, we found out there was some activity over by the islands, so we decided to check it out. Turned out, there was another humpback whale, two minkes and a grey seal all waiting for us! What a beautiful way to end the day.
