Whale Watching Daily Diary – 21st June 2026

Morning Tour

A calm, sunny day on the waters of Reykjavík greeted us in the morning.
The sea was glassy and surprisingly warm, creating the best conditions for whale watching. Shortly after leaving the harbour, we spotted a few harbour porpoises. Minke whales were everywhere, surfacing in every direction around the boat. A humpback whale put on an incredible display, interacting playfully with a pod of white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins and whale stayed together for several minutes, providing a rare and special encounter. They came incredibly close, giving everyone a breathtaking view of the wildlife

Afternoon Tour

The afternoon tour brought another fantastic day of whale watching in Faxafloi Bay. Not every day can we see all four species that are regular visitors here. Several humpbacks were seen surfacing simultaneously and later on interacting with white-beaked dolphins. Dolphins tried to steal the show, coming very close to our boat and showing off a little… But spy-hopping humpbacks, checking us out and rolling over their huge bodies, were truly unforgettable moments. Minke whales kept showing up constantly during the entire tour. The calm sea and bright sunshine provided excellent viewing conditions throughout the trip.
Overall, it was an exciting afternoon filled with humpback activity and wonderful wildlife encounters.
