Humpback whales in Iceland

This morning in Faxaflói Bay, conditions were very challenging – a strong, cold wind blowing from the north and very rough seas. Unfortunately, because of this, we were unable to spot any whales this morning, and passengers were given a complimentary ticket valid for the next three years.

In the afternoon, conditions improved – the sun made it feel a bit warmer outside, and the sea calmed down, allowing us to freely explore the more distant, deeper parts of the bay. And we did it! First, we saw some very playful white-beaked dolphins. About 30 of them, which started playing in the waves created by our boat! In the distance, we also spotted two tall blows – humpbacks. Once we reached the spot, we watched two adult whales lunge feeding right in front of our boat! A brilliant show.
