Whale Watching Daily Diary – 3rd June 2026

Morning Tour

We headed out into Faxaflói Bay under calm sea conditions, with mostly cloudy skies and only brief glimpses of sunshine throughout the morning. Despite the overcast weather, the sea remained very smooth, providing excellent conditions for wildlife watching.

Our highlight of the tour was a large humpback whale. The whale was incredibly relaxed and spent a long time at the surface, allowing everyone to enjoy prolonged and close observations. Its calm behaviour made for a truly special encounter and gave our passengers plenty of opportunities to appreciate its impressive size.

Later in the trip, we encountered several white-beaked dolphins. Some individuals were seen leaping out of the water, while others approached the boat and swam alongside us, delighting everyone on board with their playful behaviour.

The combination of a magnificent humpback whale, active dolphins, and calm sea conditions made for a fantastic morning excursion in the bay.

Afternoon Tour

The afternoon tour continued under calm sea conditions, although the skies remained mostly cloudy and a light rain arrived towards the end of the trip.

Once again, we were fortunate to encounter the large humpback whale. The whale remained very relaxed and easy to observe, giving everyone excellent views as it surfaced peacefully around the area.

We also enjoyed several encounters with white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins were active throughout the tour, with some jumping clear of the water and others coming close to the boat, providing memorable moments for our passengers.

Although the weather became a little wetter towards the end of the day, the calm sea and excellent sightings of both humpback whales and dolphins ensured a very enjoyable and rewarding afternoon on Faxaflói Bay.
