Whale Watching Daily Diary –7th June 2026

Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; Humpback whale floating upside down with its fins held high out of the water

Morning Tour

On a beautiful June summer day in Reykjavík, we enjoyed whale watching under sunshine and calm seas.
The conditions were perfect, with smooth waters and excellent visibility all around. We were lucky to spot two humpback whales during the tour. The second whale was slightly smaller but much more curious than the first.
It lifted its tail more frequently and seemed eager to interact with its surroundings. At one point, it even came closer to our boat, as if checking us out before continuing on its way.

Afternoon Tour

The afternoon tour took place under sunny skies, with calm seas and a slightly stronger breeze than earlier in the day.
Our first sighting was a humpback whale surrounded by a lively pod of white-beaked dolphins. We then moved on to another humpback, which treated us to several spectacular breaches.
As the tour continued, we encountered more humpback whales feeding and traveling through the area.
The final whale we found put on an unforgettable show, breaching very close to the boat right in front of us.
In total, we observed five humpback whales during the tour. Given the amount of whale activity in the area, there were likely many more humpbacks nearby beyond those we encountered. Simply amazing!
