Truly amazing weather conditions on Faxaflói today! The sun was shining directly in our faces and the ocean was calm. Only the cold wind was a bit of a nuisance, but it didn’t stop us from exploring the bay in search of whales.
Every tour is different, and we never know what to expect. In the morning, we had a great time in the company of a pod of harbour porpoises. Then, a little further from the shore, we saw a few splashes – it turned out to be white-beaked dolphins! As usual, they were full of energy and swam right next to our boat. On the way back, we also encountered a minke whale.
In the afternoon, we spotted a minke whale right next to the harbour wall! It was swimming between the islands, close enough for us to easily see the white spots on its fins. We sailed deeper into the bay again, encountering another minke whale.
A wonderful day, wonderful experiences.
