Welcome aboard Sea Trips Reykjavík

Thank you for supporting our small company by coming out to see Iceland’s natural wonders with Sea Trips Reykjavik.

Our company was set up in 2016 by three friends who love the ocean, as all Icelanders do. We wanted to share its wonders with the world, showing travelers to our lands the jaw-dropping sights that we see daily.

Between us, we have many years of experience and knowledge of whale watching and fishing, and of the diverse wildlife that can be found in Icelandic waters, especially in Faxaflói, the bay that lies outside Reykjavík.

We sail from the city’s old harbour, right in the centre of town, and within easy walking distance of most hotels.

When you sail with us, you may well have one of the original three as your ship’s captain, or collecting you from your hotel, as we all pitch in wherever we’re needed.

Because we all worked so well together, and thanks to people like you who have sailed with Sea Trips before, our company has grown and added a couple more family members and old friends to our team along the way.

The company may be young, but we have years of knowledge and experience in different areas, and we use all of it to give you the most incredible day out.

Years spent out on the water here mean that we know the best places to search for whales, or to find a calm spot nestled in between the islands to give you a picturesque view of the Aurora Borealis, framed by the majestic  Mount Esja.

We are passing our knowledge on to the next generation. In a couple of years, we hope to see our sons and daughters becoming the captains, engineers, and guides for Sea Trips.

By choosing us, you are also helping to support their futures too.

Although the Amelia Rose was built as a super yacht, she is a splendid sightseeing ship, cutting through the waves effortlessly.

Importantly for us, her streamlined design and propeller guards mean that she is more energy-efficient and eco-friendly, and the propeller guards mean we cannot accidentally injure a cetacean.

Education is really important to us. On our whale watching tours, our guides enlighten our guests about the wider ocean environment, as well as the  marine mammals that we’ll see, and what we can do to protect them for future generations.

They also talk about astronomy and the night skies as we wait for the Northern Lights to light up the sky above us.

Our crew is passionate. About whales. About Iceland. About the Aurora. We want to share it with you, and to do that we will treat you like the individuals you are.

This unique approach means that many of our guests come to see us again, either to take a different tour, or even to relish their original tour once again, because they enjoyed it so much the first time!

In 2019, we received our first “Award of Excellence” from TripAdvisor, and we are on track to win it again, so thank you all so much for your part in that.

We look forward to seeing you in Reykjavik soon, and showing you our incredible wildlife, breathtaking scenery, and awe-inspiring Northern Lights.

All the best,
Your crew at Sea Trips Reykjavik
